Cochin Haneefa Passed Away

Popular comedian/director/screenwriter Cochin Haneefa passed away today at Sree Ramachandra Medical Hospital at 1.30PM, Chennai.  He was admitted few days back due to liver related problems.

His real name is Salim Ahmed Ghoush and he is 59 years old. He started his acting career as a Villain later then changed his tracks to comedy roles.  He has acted in more than 300 films including Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu. India successfully test fired the two Astra air-to-air missiles from its Integrated Test Range (ITR) off the Orissa coast at Balasore on 11th January, 2010. The two missiles were tested at 0945hrs IST and 1206hrs IST.
The Astra is an active radar homing Beyond visual range air to air missile (BVRAAM) developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), India. This is the first air-to-air missile developed by India; an advanced missile that enables fighter pilots to lock-on and shoot down enemy aircraft 80 km away.

Many employees in Kaiga Power station fell ill after drinking the contaminated water. Kaiga is an atomic power plant located in Uttar Kannada. It is been functioning since the year 2000 under Nuclear Power corporation of India Ltd. An earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale was observed today at 1.20am, having its core at Hindu Kush region, Afghanistan.  The earthquake had its effect well enough to make the people to fear and undergo preventive measures to avoid the seismic effects.
 India Meteorological Department has reported that the earthquake occurred in the region with the epicenter at 36.5N Latitude and 71.0 E Longitude. They also told that there were no seismic damages observed in the region but only a slight temblor was felt by many civilians.

The Shiva Basin, a submerged depression lying on the west of India have gathered the interest of world, as Sankar Chatterjee of Texas Tech University has unveiled his research results about it. It is found that, it is the world’s largest, multi-ringed impact crater. It is also said that this impact would be the one, which killed dinosaurs about 65 million years ago. It is much bigger (40 kilometers wide) than the crater in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula (10 kilometers), which was considered to be the biggest and have killed dinosaurs.

Madurai bomb blast | Bomb blast In Madurai

3 People are confirmed to be dead including a woman in the blast that occurred today at 6.03 Pm in Cholavandan railway station, Madurai. Victims of the blast are not identified yet. Air india pilots on strike | Air india strike
