Hyundai decided to launch the revised edition of its best seller Santro in Indian market on September 1, 2009. The launch has been pre-poned from the actual date in order to meet the competition from the just released Maruti Suzuki Estilo. Hyundai will pull back its premium hatchback Getz by 2011 said the Managing director and chief executive H.S. Lheem of Hyundai at annual convention of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). He also gave a sideline about the release of an 800cc car in few years but denied to give more details about it.

Hyundai expects to sell about 5.5 lakh units, including export and imports. They planned to export about 2.7 lakh units and 2.8 lakh in domestic market. The company also expects a better sale in this festive season to sell around 40,000 I 20’s. Lheem said that the company will shift its production unit to Europe due to logistical reasons. Hyundai have also decided to increase its production from two shifts to three shifts which would increase the number of units from 2000 to 2500 per day to meet the demand, from 14th September.
