Popularly featured as sex symbol in Indian Media, Mallika Sherawat who was born in Karnal,Haryana  went to school at Delhi Public School, Mathura Road. She has obtained a degree in Indian philosophy,Miranda House,Delhi University.Her birth name is Reema Lamba.She says she adopted the name “Mallika Sherawat because “Mallika†means empress and Sherawat is her mother’s maiden name who has supported her mother to avoid confusion with other actresses named Reema.
CAREER
This bold, buoyant, beautiful actress made her debut in the film industry Lak Tunoo, a music video by Surjit Bindrakhia. She allured people’s attention with her appearance in the 2003 movie Khwahish. In 2004, she acted in Murder, a film inspired by Hollywood’s Unfaithful. And received a nomination for Best Actress at the Zee Cine Awards ceremony for her performance in the film and went on to become one of the biggest hits of the year.
She became prominent in the news Cannes when she grabbed a small role in a Jackie Chan movie, The Myth; she made a widely publicized appearance at the Film Festival to promote The Myth.
Pyar Ke Side Effects which was 2006 featured in the year co-starring Rahul Bose mustered a decent collection in the box office and the film was a moderate success.She has also acted in Dasavathaaram in a small role
Her first 2007 release was Himesh Reshammiya’s Aap Ka SuroorThe Real Love Story where she acted in a “sluttish role”. She herself has protested, saying that it is a , negative role but not a slut role. With Aap Ka Suroor she has become the most expensive “Item Girl†as she charged Rs. 1.5 crore for her Item number in the movie. Aap Ka Suroor did well at the box office. Her latest release Welcome(2007) which also did well at the box office receiving blockbuster status.
