Hannan Binth Hashim – Pride of India
Hannan Binth Hashim, a tenth standard girl in Kozhikode, Kerala has questioned the accuracy of Einstein’s theories. Just a 14 year old girl has made a theory which can prove many existing theories as wrong. According to her Universe is a constantly changing matter.
Her ‘Absolute Theory of Zero ’states that the speed of light is not a constant while theories like ‘Big Bang theory’ , ‘Theory of Relativity’ are developed based on the concept of constant light speed. That makes a challenge to the existing theories developed by Einstein. “Discovering the hidden concepts of universe does not lie only in new scientific theories but also in the unexplained corners of old theories” Hannan stongly believes. The young Astrophysics aspirant is all set to deliver her speech at Universities of Boston, Texas, Chicago, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and 17 other universities across the world. Hannan was guided Dr Soumya Vasudevan, a Hind Rattan award winner. According to Hannan Binth Hashim ‘Absolute Theory of Zero’ is a new mathematical concept that explains the existing theories in a different light speed.
Former President A P J Abdul Kalam, NASA, many scientists of IISc, IIMSc and many research institutes in the world has appreciated this young talent. She has participated in the NASA space camp held in August and her model rocket was launched there. Hannan will meet Mr. President of US this October in the Siemens Westinghouse Science and Technology competition for high school students.

The news abt. Hannan has been published by reliable sources, so it doesn’t seem 2 b a hype…. As to ur doubts, i would like 2 clarify that 1) IIMSc. stands for Indian Institute of Mathematical Sciences located at Chennai, India…… 2) Though Siemens Westinghouse Sc. & Tech comp’t is open only 4 US students, Hannan has been given exemption bcoz of her excellent track records…… & finally 3)Dr. Soumya Vasudevan was awarded Hind Rattan award on Jan.25th , 2006.
Well done, Hope she does have a valid Theory. I am not too sure what the mentor ( Dr Vasudevan) is doing though. One report has it that she is a medic in the US. you would expect a mentor who is a mathematitian or physicist.. not a bilogist or medic…

About Miss Hannan Binth Hashim and her credulous press reporters Ms Anula Aboobacker and Ms Cissy Jacob who conveniently refuse to answer criticisms, I’d say:
1. As already pointed out, the “Space School Graduate” is not a degree. Nasa Space center at Houston is an organization to promote interest in space study among youngsters. The degree they give is only informal. Anyone ready to participate in their activities for a few days may get it. The Space Center have rocket modeler software with which one can design a model and launch it provided one is willing to pay money. These things are nothing extraordinary. Definitely Miss Hannan’s parents must have known it.
2. Reports mention several “mentors” of Miss Hannan. One of them is Prof. Jayanth Murthy of Indian Institute of Science. Prof. Murthy admits that Miss Hannan has visited IIA library but clarifies that he hasn’t had any scientific discussion with her. The relevant part of his message is quoted from Mr. Aniver Aravind (Blog “Chithrakaran”):
“Thanks for forwarding this link to me. I will also post my comment in that site itself. This girl came to see me some months ago and told me that she had this theory that Einstein was wrong and that Kalam was impressed by her theory… Read more. She also had a write-up in the Indian Express (if I remember right). I told her that the press and Presidents were easily impressed but that ground breaking theories do not come from school kids – they just don’t have the mathematics and physics tools necessary. I advised her to continue her interest in science but that she should work hard to learn everything necessary and that I would be glad to help her where possible. That is the limit of my contact with her (other than one more brief visit and email exchange). This is what I do for any student who contacts me and have done for dozens of students.
I am not her mentor and have no knowledge of her work. If anyone were to ask me, I would say that I do not believe in her “theory” but am happy to see her so interested in science. After this latest episode, I am much less forgiving and would believe that her story is a tissue of lies from beginning to end.

3. Another mentor mentioned is one Dr. Sowmya Vasudevan who is a Hind Rattan award winner. But there is no such name on the list of Hind Rattan Award winners. When this inconsistency was pointed out someone replied that there was one with that name who got the award in 2005. This is not true. In 2005 one Dr. Sowmya Viswanathan (medicine) got the award but not Dr. Sowmya Vasudevan. This slight alteration in the detail might have been made deliberately to thwart verification.
3. Miss Hannan claims that she has formulated a novel theory called “Absolute Theory of Zero” and that her paper on the theory is going to be published in a journal by name “American Journal of Theoretical Physics.” The fragments of the “theory” as these are given by the reporters are nothing short of silly nonsense. Apart from this, there is an “International Journal of Theoretical Physics” and an “American Journal of Physics” but no such thing as “American Journal of Theoretical Physics” to carry the kid’s paper. When Unnikrishnan pointed out this inconsistency Ms. Ms. Anula replied that there is an “American Journal of Physics” which started publication in 1940. She doesn’t realize that her “American Journal of Physics” is not the same as the “American Journal of Theoretical Physics” of the reports!
Apparently, the Expressbuzz reporter Ms Anula Aboobacker (19 June 2009) and Mathrubhumi reporter Ms Cissy Jacob (14 June 2009) do not seem to have sought any documentary evidence from the kid. They relied upon Miss Hannan’s words instead of asking her to produce the letter of acceptance Miss Hannan “got” from the so called “American Journal of Theoretical Physics.” Instead, they simply believed the words of a school kid, and her mother. Even after adverse remarks were aired, these reporters did not come up with any documentary evidence to absolve Miss Hannan. Nor had Miss Hannan herself, nor her mother, nor her Principal given any documentary evidence. Seeing the same article on Miss Hannan reproduced in several sites, one of her innocent supporters asserts that the news must be true since it is found everywhere on the net! He doesn’t realize that he is reading the same news reproduced in different sites. It’s astonishing to find naïve persons complaining that Miss. Hannan is being criticized unfairly.
4. Miss Hannan claims that she got special permission to participate in the project-based “Siemens Westinghouse Science and Technology Competition” in which only US students are allowed to take part. In this matter also the reporters haven’t cited any document supporting Miss Hannan’s claim. However, I’ve contacted the Seimens people for verification of the matter and am waiting for their reply.
5. Another claim is that Miss Hannan is joining MIT. How can a 10th standard kid without qualifying SAT and IELT even apply for admission to MIT? Have the reporters verified whether she has qualified these tests or not? Or has the MIT too exempted Miss Hannan from qualifying SAT and IELT? If they had, is there any evidence to the effect?
To sum up: Miss Hannan is either a fraud or a highly imaginative kid who has mistaken her fantasy for reality. Please don’t spoil the kid by dancing to her tunes. Save her from her fantasies and guide her along the right path towards the study of science. Miss Hannan must come to terms with reality. She may grow out of her fantasy to become a great scientist, of course not right now, but later, much later, it may take years! I wish the poor girl a bright future.
I request her reporters Ms Anula Aboobacker and Ms Cissy Jacob either to defend their reports or to tend a public apology in the matter.

The tall claims of hannan were immediately identified as least likely to be true by our logical minds.A quick search of the net had confirmed her claims to be false and our group had rubbished them. Now we hear that a media house has provided (probably unknowingly), a perfect platform for hyping her claims. This is the same media group which had hyped Ramar’s invention of herbal petrol years back. We all know what came out of the Ramar petrol. I can speculate with reasonable certainty that Hannan is not going to be any different. Thank you Kuma once more!

Why we malayalees always believe in media hypes? I was forced to read about this girl after many of my pals keep on asking me about this child prodigy. every one seems to be charged up …malayali girl, indian , muslim etc. As a person who spent a significant amount of time in my career to understand relativity theorems (special and general), all this hype is absurd.
You can’t simply disprove relativity theorems (or any theorem). by a single statemet. I saw an interview with her recently and she is simply blabbering non sensical statements. It more sounded like a science fiction to me becuase science has its own way of validating things and this little girl didn’t seem to following any of those.

I would like to comment something in this topic.
Hannan might be a talented girl. That is only why she got an opportunity to take part in “NASA space camp”. Anyway very very talented than most of the other kids around.
She also got a courage to challenge Einstein, eventhough she could have another thought before challenging someone like Einstien. She is just 14/15 yr old. Need to be matured to THINK twice before claiming something. if she has got 100% proof, or already proved her findings then its fine to challenge anyone eventhough he is a GodFather of science.
If they claim is something that doesnt she deserves or money can buy or excagerated, its very very bad and anyone have the right to question all those she or her family claims, provided she should be encouraged(She has got some extra ordinary talent i guess). But still people can make Hannan and her family understand where they are going wrong without discouraging them.
If people let anyone claim things that they dont deserve, 100s of people follow the same thing. So anyone can question if they gave false information to the public. One more thing… some one who is questioning should also have enough proof to claim she and her family has provided false information to the media/public. Otherwise the people who is questioning will be doing the same thing like the Hanans family is doing (if her family did something wrong).
Also our local Journalist are not professional, they just publish wat they hear, doesnt need any proof or bother to investigate. They need to be changed first. If they are spending few hours with the Hannans family with some investigation mind, they could have got enough proof and reference to know what all informations are valid and what all are exagerated. Anyway it will take time to find a change in our journalism.

well i cant stop laughing after reading all these media hype and comment.does this girl atleast have the prerequisite knolwedge in basic physics and mathematics?calculus,differential equations,vector calculus(indeed she must have the basic knowledge in electromagnetic theory to properly understand special relativity)special relativity originated as a result of the wave equation being variant under the galiliean transformations,but the experimental results such as michelson morley experiment,trouton noble experiment etc proving otherwise.that is Maxwell’s equations remain true in any inertial frames of reference…a successful resolution of the problem indeed due to lorentz,not einstein is what really solved the problem.and worth mentioning are the names of poincare and minowski.einstein was just a clever synthesizer of all these solutions.there lies his genious),tensor calculus,classical mechanics?i really pity about the indian society who have absolutely no interest or knowledge in pure sciences such as theoretical physics and who are only concerned about foolish useless and absurd subjects like economics,trade,commerce etc.and it is this group of people who easily fall prey to such absurd claims and are real hindrance for flourishing and encouragement of fundamental research here…infact we have only a handful of institutions concentrating on undamental research like TIFR,IUCAA,NCRA,IMSc

This universe is really big, isn’t it? How much big? Can anyone give me a conclusion for it with 100% certainty? Then how can you say that a 14 year old girl can’t prove Einstein wrong? It is very hard to judge people with 100% certainty. Because human mind is something that science can’t explain fully.

Whatever knowledge he acquired was through books and continuous experimentation. Whenever you turn the lights in your room, you must thank him. Also when you turn on your computer, or when you play your DVD player. It was his idea to record and play back on a disk other than tape. He was a person with inborn talent, not an educationally qualified scientist. A person can gain enough knowledge from people he communicates, and from books, or by closely observing the nature and creative thinking. The science and technology that you see today is not built in a single day. Our ancestors had the above practices and discovered so many things and summarized under different categories that we call as Physics, Chemistry and Math, Economics and whatever it may be. Before Newton invented and concluded gravitational principles, there was gravity in this universe. Things do come down when you throw it up. Long time before Antoine Lavoisier recognized and named Oxygen, people used to breathe air.
. And today some people thank Lavoisier for inventing Oxygen, otherwise they’d have been dead.

I dont think we can build up a successful economy with theoretical physics, astrophysics, or molecular biology only. Every researcher is a human-being so have to eat something whenever hungry. He can’t simply eat astrophysics and can’t satisfy his metabolic needs. Every citizen is a part of an Economical System and a research in Astrophysics or Theoretical Physics or in whatever subjects is a part of them. That’s why we need businessmen, industrialists, economists as long as the standard “Money” exists. If there is no concept of money, if people are following the old Barter System, what you said is okay.

Again, just because they do not have the necessary knowledge about Lorentz transformation or various space constructs, whether it is Banach, Hilbert or Minkowski, does not mean common people are foolish. It is OK to be an admirer of theoretical physics, but other fields, mathematics, chemistry, engineering, medicine, and yes economics are all important and interesting. There are a lot of things theoretical physicists do not know; and they cannot easily find a good job, if they are not extremely good. Unless you put everything fundamental under the umbrella of theoretical physics, most of the progress in our living standards are not the direct result of theoretical physics; they are from experimental physics, chemistry, engineering, medicine, biology, and even economics. If a subject cannot play a significant role in improving our living standards, one has to wonder about its importance.
On the main subject, I do not understand why Hannan is seeking such a publicity. This is not at all helpful.

In my absolute theory of zero,I never explained about a torch light.there is where all go wrong.I am talking about that has already taken in past..I am not anyone wrong..even Einstein..AS for my side…his experiments are treated as the biggest ever.But u see..in macro level this wont happen..
light upon light is allahs light..and u dont know what it is..people doesnt know…I even dont know…so does the great scientist..Astrophysics reached a barrier where it could explain..in physics terms…but till that reach a barrier that has way to go..but all this is going to be an end..
U need sumthng totally away from Physics..which explains this ,still Its hard to find a perfect..for Allah knows everything..
U should make sense,I cant be perfect in my theory..and even no can be..there will be drawbacks in my theory as I accept it as part of reality.

Human minds developed science.. ergo, by simple deductive reasoning, God must have created science beforehand for us humans to discover it and witness the truth of the universe and the truth of his existence.
This is how it makes so perfect sense to me that everything exists and is created by God, the Greatest.
that really makes sense …and thats gud view of point..

I happend to read your commends only today, but sad to see that you completely lost your humour! By this time the whole world realized that “Hanaan is nothing but a Fraud” and many of her sponsors have withdrawn her support, and that what I meant by the word “You Know the TRUTH”. I am sure she is realizing her mistakes by now, especially after her recent trip to US and knocking the doors for HELP! Her famous presentations the biggest nonsense I have ever heard in my life.. Why do you think our Dr. Abdul Kalam failed to understand Hanaan??? Because there was no SUBSTANCE or MATTER in her talk or discussion, just the book / internet knowledge, that’s it!! May be you are not aware, she has been visiting the most prestigious libraries in south India just to read the astrophysics related books! That’s all !!!
Being said all the above, I still belie that Hanaan is an extra brilliant girl but lack of direction! Also, it is a shame to hear that she don’t have any fundamental values in her, which is being discussed among her friends and family!! I hope she can appear for her Xth board exam, though she did not stick to the school attendance (Yes,she got an Exception from Govt for school attendance till Dec’09) with out any other issues.
