Ford has come up with an exciting new model car named “Figoâ€, which means cool in Italian. Figo is specially designed for the Indians as Ford has realized the seriousness of holding a position in Indian car market. US Ford is still in an unsteady state after avoiding bankruptcy last year.
 They have decided to balance the condition by making some profit in Indian market. Ford has invested $500 million in the South Indian Manufacturing plant to increase the units to 200,000 per annum by 2010. Motor Company president and CEO Alan Mulally of Ford said “Our plan for India involves accelerating development of fuel efficient small cars. The small car market in India will double in the next one decade. We know the high importance placed by Indian customers on value for money,” He also added “Our exciting new Ford Figo shows how serious we are about India.
 It reflects our commitment to compete with great products in all segments of this car market. We are confident the Ford Figo will be a product that Indian consumers really want and value,”
Ford has not released any details about Figo as they have reserved it till the launch. Alan Mullay said that the new Figo will be released in early 2010. Figo was showcased in Chennai showrooms and it looks cool as it name says and will be available in both diesel and petrol engine. Figo will be a strong competition to cars like i20, Swift and A-Star cars. About the price, the Ford Indian President and Managing Director Mr. Michael Boneham said,†It’s going to be very competitive with the current market leader and will offer a tremendous value for our consumers.”
